This is interesting, there is obviously a pressure for the generals to respond as they have.
Although, I would imagine that there is an ulterior motive, no one gives up power easily.
It comes to mind that Bhutto was assasinated.
Perhaps by releasing her, the world exposure will make it easier
for them to eliminate her by assassination, a suicide bomber for example,
lay the blame on the patsey, and thereby rid themselves of a nuisance.
We will watch how this plays out, caveat emptor.
Reports from Burma say documents authorising the release of the pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, have been signed.
There has been no official statement, but increased police activity has been seen near where she lives.
Aung San Suu Kyi's house arrest expires on Saturday but it is not clear whether new conditions will be imposed.
As international journalists are barred from entering Burma, our reporter cannot be named for security reasons.
