John Cleese hits out at British television - Telegraph

The comic actor said that he would rather read a book and had no desire to participate in shows that hold no appeal.

TV was great growing up, Fawlty Towers, Minder, The Sweeney, Benny Hill, Top of the Pops, Old Grey Whistle Test, Monty Python, Grange Hill, Blue Peter, the classic version, Magic Roundabout, Tin Tin, Crossroads, Coronation Street, Oh that's still going, Love Thy Neighbour, Till Death Us Do Part, Steptoe and Son, The Comedians, Randall and Hopkirk Deceased, Antiques Roadshow, Sid James, Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson, Max Bygraves, Morecombe and Wise, Russel Harty Plus, Michael Parkinson Show, I remember a great classic show from the 70's? Right before the Rumble in the Jungle......Wow ....memorable.
