Neolithic Mound Silbury Hill

It is quite amazing how much work they put into building these

huge mounds in ancient times, it must have had quite a symbolic purpose.

More than the 3 Major Networks together, YouTube at five- 2 bn views a day

Video sharing website YouTube now gets more than two billion hits daily.

That's nearly double the number of people who tune into the US's three prime time TV stations combined, its owners Google have said.

"Two billion video streams is a large number but on average people are only spending 15 minutes a day on the site compared to five hours a day watching TV.

Cloning, the back up plan for endangered species?

But while the bears are anaesthetised and given an essential check-up before their journey, it also gives Dr Masters access to a precious resource: their DNA.

Dr Masters explains: "We are losing species too quickly, therefore we ought to preserve at least the genetic material that has taken millions and millions of years to evolve

This is about Frozen Ark.

Ever heard of this movie before?

A friend just told me that this movie is well worth watching.

  Warren Beatty no less.

The Parallax View is a 1974 American thriller film directed by Alan J. Pakula and starring Warren Beatty, who was also a producer. The film was adapted by David Giler, Lorenzo Semple Jr and an uncredited Robert Towne from the 1970 novel by Loren Singer. The story concerns a reporter's dangerous investigation into an obscure organization, the Parallax Corporation, whose primary, but not ostensible, enterprise is political assassination.
The Parallax View is the second installment of Pakula's Political Paranoia trilogy, along with Klute (1971) and All the President's Men (1976); The Parallax View was the only one not released by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Looks very interesting.

Ah, Le French!

'Fauxmance' gets dictionary entry

Photographers at a film event Fauxmances are concocted to generate press coverage for celebrities

Fauxmances?

What will they think of next?

New words from celebrities, politics and TV have entered the latest edition of Collins English Dictionary.

Fauxmance, a fake romance between actors, and tweetheart, a person admired by others on social networking site Twitter, were included.

Simples!, an advert's catchphrase, and Cleggmania, referring to interest in Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, joined them

What would Shakespeare think, I guess one can at least say the language is

a "work in progress!"........mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Cheers!

Students aim to bolster French protests

French students protest in Nantes. Photo: 21 October 2010 President Sarkozy is hoping the parliament vote will quell the protests

French students will stage protests on Tuesday to try to bolster opposition to the government's pension reforms amid some signs of cracks in the movement.

The numbers could be a litmus test, correspondents say, after three of 12 national oil refineries voted to end their action and a rubbish collectors' strike in Marseille was suspended.

The row comes to a head this week.

Russian humour

1000 years of Russian state, 73 years of Soviet Power and 6 years of Perestroika produced a number of enlightening, educational and inspirational anecdotes, short stories, aphorisms.

A judge walks out of his chambers laughing his head off. A colleague approaches him and asks why he is laughing. "I just heard the funniest joke in the world!" "Well, go ahead, tell me!" says the other judge. "I can't - I just gave a guy ten years for it!"

The Royle family, with a deliberate pun intended, was one of the most successful British comedy shows
of the early 2000's. The storyline covers a working class Manchester family living on benefits.
But somehow the writers captured an earthy level of magic among the characters that made us bring them to
out hearts.
