Saturday Night

This is a fantastic version of
Guess we don't need to point
out the connection right kids!

Do Kate and Prince William watch this?

Looks_a_bit_like_prince_willia

It goes through, we think, the sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties
to the present. They are good at running pretty poignant adverts.

This music

Plays right at the very end, and is so well blended in, that you can
see that there are many people who have found it on YouTube,
specifically because of John Lewis on TV!
Don't know if Kate and Prince William have watched it, but you
never know, but part of British Culture captured in a short video
clip. Interesting that they know how to touch that wiring inside
one that knows that time is marching on, that youth, the positive
energy of the past, is somehow the best days of one's life.
Innocent, positive, the pre 9/11 world. It seems a lot changed
with that event, the world has become darker, we have to find
our way back to Shine On!

Planning your Crouch End garden design.

Gardens

At the beginning, it is good to try and visualise
what you are looking for in your garden.

Think about where you would like to sit and read
in the summer, how the space flows, where your
children and pets can safely play.

A garden is an experience, it should be something
that pleases the eye. Here is a thought, does anyone
go into their garden to become tense?

Obviously not, you go to relax, enjoy your plants,
appreciate the aesthetics of your planting design,
the choices of plants you have made, the colors,
natural beauty, aroma, and the wildlife, birds, and
insects it attracts.

Ideally, it would be a great thing to understand how
the sun moves across your garden during the day,
where the shade is, and position plants in such a
way that fruit does not become spoiled in direct
sunlight, if it is of a sensitive variety, and also that
it receives enough sun.

Walk around your garden for a while, watch the sun
in the different seasons, get a sense of the space,

Double up Prince William!

220px-prince_william_of_wales_

Prince William completed a busy twenty four hour shift working
as a Helicopter pilot at ten in the morning, then caught
another  helicopter to  ride over and play his formal
role as a member of the Royal Family, and play a completely
different part in officially opening a new children's hospital unit.

Just the previous evening, he was part of the team that
rescued a woman in the Snowdonia range with injuries to her
head after a fall, an emergency pick up to transport a seaman
to a sick relative's bedside.
He got back to base around nine thirty, and he was able to offer the
sailor a lift to Sandhurst, and then over to Anglesey for the next part
of his journey. Changed into a suit, and off to meet with
Kate to open the Special Unit, a Cancer unit for sick children,
a project that was cherished by Princess Diana, his mother.

There was only one other really official engagement that included
the Duchess, which was the Canadian trip in the last year.

May be a precusor to how her role develops in the future.

Want a photo Your Majesty?

The_queen_and_prince_phillip
There is a large new portrait of Mr. and Mrs. Windsor,
oops, perhaps we should say, Her Majesty the Queen,
and Prince Phillip. The large image is one and a half
by two meters, and was especially commisioned in
the first one of a kind picture of one of the other
Royal Couples.
The image was made in April in the famous green
room at Windsor, one of their favourite castles.
“I wanted to leave them both in their royal environment,
and of course not try to disguise who they are,
but also show them as an elderly
couple who are together"
Thomas Struth the artist.
“To mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012,
the National Portrait Gallery is staging an innovative
touring exhibition bringing together sixty of the most
remarkable and resonant images of Elizabeth II".

Presidential Approval Ratings -- Barack Obama

Barack Obama Presidential Job Approval

Barack Obama's Daily Job Approval Trend

Barack Obama's Job Approval Average by Subgroup

Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as president?

WEEKLY AVERAGES FROM GALLUP DAILY POLLING

Ouch, Obama's approval ratings are currently ranking 40 percent.
Less than W.

There may be room for a degree of pessimism, he may be a one term president, hard to say, but it was obvious that he has the answers, portrays himself as a magnanimus world leader. But he obviously does not have "the answer" these days, our previous post focused on the young lady struggling without unemployment benefits. Harry S. Dent the financial analyst, has predicted that the recession we are currently in, which in Europe is being phrased as a world recession, is going to last until the early 2020's, usually he cites 2022, and was completely foreseable, so it is possible that even if another candidate comes in and takes over the helm, that the world recession will continue, and also that the United States role as the world major super economy, is about to shift east to China and Asia.
We'll see.

Without a job, California woman forced to live a lie

Friends tell us that life in the USA is not so easy,
Obama's approval ratings

This young lady was laid off from a great job at a bank, making up to seventy thousand dollars a year, then, just as she was looking forward to a promotion,
she got laid off.

This young lady Sukhraj, is facing a considerable amount of family criticism,
not her fault, she is like millions of other young people, stuck in an
economy that is not only making it very difficult to live, thrive and survive,
but also, this is the point in her life when you should be able to surge
forward with her career, think about building a family and setting up
a plan for a future.

The best that her family could suggest is to "marry a doctor", they are obviously a previous generation and don't understand the way it is for
their children in these times.

"I have to go there and tell them I was able to get my next promotion and that I'm on track and that there's no way the company would let me go because I'm such a valuable asset and all this bulls***," Beasla said.

However, the kid seems to be a champion, she has started her own business, hustled to survive, sends out many cv's, looks for ways to economise and keeps on going. However, having been out of work ourselves, we know it sucks to not be within one's career track.

Her unemployment benefits ran out, so she is hustling up money any way she can, and is able to keep a blog going on Ireport to update people on her daily life. We would guess that she is of Asian Indian descent, there is a lot of pressure in the culture for the children to do well, have status, money and have the appearance of being prosperous, understandable coming from a continent where there is so much poverty.

Great lady, and we will wish her well.

Prince William is trying very hard not to think about being the King of England.

Prince William has recently said that he is trying to avoid thinking
about becoming the UK's Soverign as much as possible, and would be very content
to keep on with his job as a search and rescue pilot for as long as possible.
Or, at least, three or four years yet.

His grandmother Her Majesty the Queen, in regard to the Royal Wedding invitation list
advised him to send invitations to his friends and not worry about the rest.
She is very positive and supportive towards Prince William and Kate's marriage and sees
them very much as the future of the British Monarchy.
Although she is showing no sign of slowing down and fully intends to continue in her role
well beyond her Jubilee celebrations next year, which if you are Prince Charles, and have
been kind of waiting for quite a while for a chance to play the role, assuming that he would
like to become King, means, he will have to wait a bit longer.
That being said, there has been talk of the accession skipping Charles and going straight
to William and Kate. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Queen is old school and
will perform her duties until she has done everything she can to fulfill her role for the country.

Airmiles Andy strikes again!

New item, "Airmiles Andy", the Duke of York,
despite having stepped down from his position as
business ambassador for the UK, just spent several
days in Saudi Arabia meeting with members of the
construction company owned by the Bin Laden family
(They had apparently disowned Osama) and other
government and business representatives.
Knowledgeable sources informed reporters that the
flight in a private jet likely would have cost anywhere
up to one hundred and fifty thousand pounds.
People don't like to cause trouble for him do they?
Private travel would have cost about four thousand
pounds, but Palace spokesmen offered the information
that the trip was arranged well before Prince Andrew
had stepped down from his position. It seems that the
private flight was necessary due to scheduling concerns.
We remember when they called him "Randy Andy" !

Tuesday 20 September 2011

Duchess of Cambridge in training for the role of a lifetime

She will be given a full briefing on how all the different
institutions work, what they are, what they do,
actually the fast track information on how to play the role.
This process will continue for a number of months until
she is fully comfortable with all the workings and is able
to comfortably and knowledgeably play her part.
In other news, apparently Mike and Zara will have their
first meeting after the "cleavage affiar" in the very near
future, just a lad's night out if you ask us!

Monday 19 September 2011

Oooops! Paddy!

How long have Princess Zara and England Rugby National player Mike Tindall been married?
Six weeks? Apparently footage is on the internet of Mike, the England's captain spending,
shall we say, some time with a blond, investigating the shall we say, well built proportionality
of the said young lady by burying his face in her cleavage, there! we've said it!
It was at a bar, where a dwarf tossing contest was occuring.
Apparently a group of lovely ladies were attracted to the England team on a surely well-deserved
night out, unfortunately, Mike did not quite recollect that he was married and was seen groping
and kissing the young lady, Rather than politely give her a royal brush off, Mike apparently responded in kind.
ooooooo, explain that to the Queen Mike!
Good thing it is Elizabeth II, because Elizabeth I might be less, forgiving? We hope it gets
played off with a sense of understanding, or no Balmoral for you young man! =0

As such, Ireland's Paddy Power betting group has altered its Royal Family divorce betting line by slashing the odds of Princess Zara splitting from the English side's captain from 12/1 to 4/1 after he was seeing cosying up to a buxom blonde in a Queensland bar.

Arty Charlie

Each child between the ages of four and sixteen will
be invited to create portrait of themselves to be projected
on the front of the Queen's London home Buckingham
Palace, in celebration of her jubilee next year in June.

It will be called "Face Britain", and as the largest attempt
ever by a number of collaborating artists in the UK, may
actually be eligible for a place in the record books.
There will be a national bank holiday in celebration next
year in June, and a letter will be sent to all schools inviting
the young artists to participate.

Fonzie gets an OBE!

Remember the television show "Happy Days"?,
Henry Winkler, the star of the show, which depicted an idealized version of 1950's America,
has just been awarded an OBE by Her Majesty the Queen.
The ceremony took place in the Washington British Embassy and
British ambassador Nigel Sheinwald presented the OBE to Winkler for his work
with Dyslexic children in the United Kingdom.

The star has been speaking at UK schools over the last few years, having been
diagnosed with Dyslexia as an adult.

The show ran for eleven seasons from January 1974 until September 1984 and was the
second longest running television series for the USA's ABC network.
The Fonzie started out as a secondary character, but became so popular he evolved into
becoming the star of the show.

Ron Howard who played "Richie" on the show has become an accomplished director in
his own right, with movies such as "Apollo 13","Cocoon"  and "A Beautiful Mind" with Russell Crowe.
The Foreign Office advises Her Majesty in regard to making honorary awards to non-British citizens.
It is not known how huge a fan she is of "The Fonz"!

Ronnie Wood and Harry? !!!

With our ongoing celebrity charity traders,
with Rod Stewart, has joined the ranks of the multi-million
pound traders, at yesterdays's fundraiser.

Ronnie traded a couple of million shares of Shell bonds,
naturally like Prince Harry's trade mentioned in our last post,
he was carefully monitored and guided by an experienced broker.

Ronnie's Brazilian girlfriend Ana Araujo stood by her man, wearing
a hollywood star of the fifties style elegant headpiece in dark velvet
type material, very elegant.

Cherie Blair, you know, Tony's wife, processed a one hundred million
rates interest swap, and in attendance also were the Mayor of London,
Boris Johnson, HRH Prince Harry, RIchard Keys and Andy Gray, Dolly Parton,
Hary Redknapp, and his son Jamie. Dolly was beamed in via video link by the way.

Sally Bercow, was there, and Paddy Doherty form Big Brother.
There were also moments of rememberance of the employees of Cantor Fitzgerald
who were killed in the 9/11 attacks on New York.
Shaun Lynn the Global President of the company was hopeful that as we mark the
ten years anniversary of the attacks, it could well be the point at which we could
start to move on.

Monday 12 September 2011

Prince Harry makes quite a deal!

It's great that Prince Harry is getting so much good
press these days, just today working as a guest broker
in a charity fundraiser for his project the charity Sentebale,
he clinched a fifteen and a half billion pound foreign exchange deal.
This was between Barclays and another European financial institution.
Boris Johnson, Ray Winstone and other celebrities took part in the
event, which was held in memory of the 9/11 attacks and particlularly
of the members of financial institutions that were lost.
Prince Harry also achieved a higher sale than the previous highest
deal raised in a similiar fund drive which was Prince Williams fifteen billion
deal last year working for ICAP a city firm.

Designing your Crouch End garden to attract Bees.

Stock-photo-closeup-of-a-honey
The UK bee population, and in fact the population of bees around the world,
appear to be in decline. The majority of gardeners are aware of this, some of
the factors that have affected this include loss of their natural environment,
herbicides and pesticides destroying their natural foods, and the bees themselves.

Thankfully, many gardens are becoming a place where bees can find a degree of
refuge, particularly bumblebees, many are able to find a place to nest and the right
kind of nourishment.

However, the dissappearing chalky grasslands, meadows that they are reliant upon,
are not replaced by our gardens.

Part of the issue for bees is that their preferred plants are often what we would call weeds.
"Pest" plants like dead nettle, clover, thistles, lavender and comfrey.

Some of the best sources for nectar and pollen for bees are wild flowers, however some
ornamentals are equally beneficial.

In the winter of 2008, one out of three hives in the UK was lost, and beekeepers are not sure why.
Lack of wildflowers, and the varroa mite which arrived in the UK in 1992 have been causes of
the decline, but it is hoped that the native black honeybee will be a hardy enough species
to halt the population decrease.

Some plants that bees favour are: Clover, Borage, Chives, Catmint, rosemary, lavender,
poppy, birds-foot trefoil, foxglove and thistles and cornflour.

You might try some annual plants rich in pollen in your N6 or N8 North London garden.

What a fantastic singer, earthy, bluesy, lots of depth and tone,
her voice is classified as contralto.

AllMusic wrote that "Adele is simply too magical to compare her to anyone."

Awards ceremony, fabuluous, with just a piano from the O2.

What is a planting designer and what can they do for me?

What is Planting Design?

Planting design requires talent and aesthetic judgement combined with a good level of horticultural, ecological and cultural knowledge.

A professional planting design specialist or garden border designer, will have been trained in design and horticultural principles and practices, and also possess an expert level of experience and knowledge in using and balancing plant layout
in garden landscapes. They may often employ soft landscaping techniques.

Your planting designer will develop a planting strategy for the long term development of your London garden landscape, and can also craft an effective plan for you to encourage wildlife and insects in your city garden.

Depending on where you live, in areas such as Highgate, Hampstead, Muswell Hill, Crouch End,
to work and play in your garden!

take a moment and visit Kitty's planting design web site.

Silver Trays and the next generation

The Queen really believes that her grandson Prince William and his wife Kate,
will represent and be the future of the British Monarchy.
Whe has placed so much trust in them both that for the first time, she has given
a gift, pretty much unprecedented, of two trays that had belonged to King George the sixth,
her much loved father. They are two silver salvers, and probably the most valued items that
she has had enough trust to share with someone marrying into the "The Firm", as the
Royal Family is known.
Her father was the King helped by a speech therapist portrayed in "The King's Speech",
by Colin Firth.
One generation, preparing to pass over to the next.

The new Royal Turbines, The Queen goes green!

The Queen going green!
Two huge turbines costing seven hundred thousand pounds and built by a Dutch company in the Netherlands,
were installed this last Wednesday using a crane at Romney Weir by the River Thames, just a bit down
the road from Windsor.
Estimated to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by seven hundred and ninety thousand kilogrammes a year,
they will likely require about a further million pounds to be invested for the installation.
The turbines are based on Archimedes principles, he was the inventor of a screw system to bring water
from one level to a higher level, such "pumps", if you will, may often be seen in Egypt ant the Middle East
where water is scarce, the land is flat and needs to be moved from one field to another.
Plans a few years back were put on hold, but now are being introduced in to the Royal scheme of things again.
A palace advisor stated:

"We have been looking at this for a number of years. It is one of a number of green initiatives
introduced at royal residences by the Queen and the Duke Edinburgh."

The Turbines should be ready to go in November.

Kitty Butterwick "Working with Kitty was a pleasure"

"Working with Kitty was a pleasure because she took the time to get to know us and what we were looking for in a garden and then added her own knowledge and imagination to develop it in ways that we would not have thought of. The result is a garden that works, looks good all year round and is transformed for the better. We couldn't have done it without her but it now feels very much like ours, and not something imposed by an outsider."

Fancy serving tea to the family?

Queen Elizabeth has placed an advert for a trainer butler to serve
herself and other members of the Royal Family.
Based at the Palace, the successfull applicant will be also part of the yearly
round of Royal Family seasonal visits to Sandringam and most famously
their retreat at Balmoral.
The pay is not great at fifteen thousand a year, but includes accomodation
and a level of training that will bring their career to the highest level.
After putting in time at the Palace, there are often a wealth of opportunitiesfor Royally trained butlers, with high paying jobs in the USA especially prized. The advertisement obviously stressed the need for discretion and confidentiality.
But, wow, what an opportunity! Serve Harry and Wills, Kate and Phillip.
Then maybe on to Hollywood serving the stars.

The Prince of Wales, is given a cd

Visiting the riot affected areas of London, Prince Charles was given a CD by a local musician.
He was assured that the music was acceptable, Charles was visiting with people who had lost
their homes and had been affected by the riots.
August was quite a month in the UK, strangely, it feels peaceful, almost as though a lot of built
up tension was released. The Notting Hill Carnival was relatively quiet due to the large police presence,
and also, there is a segment of the population on vacation.

Oooppsss!! Pippa gets a ticket!

The news you just can not live without!
Yesterday Pippa Middleton picked up a parking ticket for her BMW in Mayfair.
She happened to park at Scott's restaurant which is a big hit for Paparazzi looking for
celebrities.
Unfortunately, she was photographed picking up the ticket, pictures of which you can see here.
Pippa is 27, bit embarrassing really, hope the photo journalists are not too much in her face.

Harry's Balancing Act

We saw the last part of Prince Harry's trek in the Arctic on BBC this week, he is doing a great job of balancing being a bit of a scoundrel, having been recently enjoying an East European jump in the water, and dancing with some of the local beauties to spending time this week with the UK's bravest children.

Harry paid tribute to the children in a speech, delivered on the 14th anniversary of the untimely passing of his mother Diana.

"I feel in awe of individuals with such determination, resolve and strength to take on the challenges they face from such a young age," he said.

"It is equally heart-warming to meet those who dedicate themselves to caring for these remarkable children and young people, and hear all that they do to make their lives the very best they can be.

"Your example is an inspiration to everybody."

The interesting thing to follow is how his profile is being intentionally manufactured to be a good fit and counterfoil to the other dutiful brother William.

We will continue to be interested in the persona that is publicly developed.
