Mass Data

Data Mining is something to be aware of when you use your supermarket rewards cards.

Companies have a vested interest in seeing what you buy and what you spend.

They pay big money to supermarkets for the data recorded against customer's cards.

For example, in the United States where you pay for your own insurance coverage, the insurance companies may

purchase your food purchase data, and use this to create a prediction model of your family's health pattern for the future.

Then they adjust your insurance premium accordingly, for example if you eat a lot of high fat food, you may be more

susceptible to heart disease etc.

Makes you think, does it not?

Data

Reading a great book right now on the demographics of the internet.

There are definite patterns to searches and data, align those with your

business offering, and off you go!

The Press Association: House prices 'down 0.8% last month'

House prices 'down 0.8% last month'

House prices fell for the fifth time in six months during February as activity in the property market remained subdued, with London and the East the only regions to see a rise, figures show.

The average cost of a home in England and Wales dropped by 0.8% to £162,215 during the month, to stand 1.7% lower than in February 2010, according to the Land Registry.

It was the ninth consecutive month during which the annual rate of house price inflation has fallen, and the second month in a row during which it was negative, while the drop was the largest since October 2009.

The number of homes changing hands also fell to a seven-month low in December, the latest month for which figures are available, with 54,812 transactions taking place - 30% below the level for February last year, although the decline may in part reflect the severe winter weather during the month.

The data is the latest in a run of gloomy figures on the property market, with Halifax recently reporting that house prices had fallen at their fastest annual rate for 16 months during February, while the number of mortgages being approved for house purchase remain well down on the levels that are consistent with a stable market.

Kate Prince William

Prince William, the future heir to the British Monarchy, will exchange vows with commoner Kate Middleton in a grand fashion on the 20th of April next year. A sizeable chunk of the worlds’ 6-odd billion people are anticipating this unprecedented event, as this will probably be the most important wedding of the planet, of the century.

Kate Prince William

In this section of the wedding of Kate and Prince William we will discuss why this wedding will be a once in a lifetime experience.

How Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Wedding Will Be Like No Other

By Jim Baz

Prince William, the future heir to the British Monarchy, will exchange vows with commoner Kate Middleton in a grand fashion on the 20th of April next year. A sizeable chunk of the worlds’ 6-odd billion people are anticipating this unprecedented event, as this will probably be the most important wedding of the planet, of the century.

So, what has happened thus far? Let’s have a closer look at recent developments collected from various reports and articles that circulated all over the globe.

1. The Venue: Westminster Abbey

William and Kate could have preferred a different venue, but the fact they’re accountable to the rest of the world cannot be denied.

From a recent poll, it was found out that favourite choice is the historical Westminster Abbey, the venue of choice of choice for important royal events since in the 11th century. So basically, the couple succumbed against almost a thousand years of tradition.

The Westminster Abbey, or more formally called the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter at Westminster, hosted most of the important events in British history. Weddings, burials, and awards ceremonies: all of these are usually held in this gigantic and exquisite artefact. However, the main – and most popular – purpose of this iconic institution is serving as the venue for royal coronations, something that William will undergo in the not-so-distant future.

2. Commoner Wedding Jitters

Most brides-to-be are anxious with their big day. The preparations, along with ceremony itself, is sometimes enough to cause a major nervous breakdown for the weak of heart. With the announcement of the young royal couple’s engagement, the pressure has gone over the top.

A report from the Associated Press said that many British 2011 brides were scared of the possibility that their wedding date would fall on the same day as their sovereigns. With unprecedented interest from the public – even exceeding that which was accorded for Charles and Diana in the 80′s – it is very likely that many family member would rather stay home and watch the regal ceremony than actually attend the wedding of a loved one.

Some British respondents said that the feeling is like having one’s birthday fall on New Year’s Day.

3. Unexpected (but Welcome) Economic Stimulus

Would you believe that this wedding could invigorate the ailing British economy in a major way?

Yes, it actually can.

The Royal wedding, as was stated earlier, is something that has caught the fancy of not only of the British and Irish but also the rest of Europe and the world. Because of this, tourism in the UK is expected to climb onto record levels, thereby injecting foreign cash into the debt-ridden economy.

Furthermore, the general positive mood shown by the public is something that can stimulate economic growth. Optimism among the people boost consumer spending, as people become less cautious of future problems as they savour the joys of the present day.

Epilogue:

A lot of critics say that this overwhelming reaction from both the local and international community is quite exaggerated. They say that a wedding of two human beings cannot be more important than the wedding of another pair.

However, in a time when the world is sick and tired of bad news coming through the airwaves at a mind-boggling rate, this kind of news is a much-needed and well-deserved form of positive relief.

Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Snow White: these are the archetypal prince-princess stories that we all grew to love and fantasize about. We have often stretched our imagination just to grasp the idea, the grandeur of how a prince and princess discover true love.

Just look at the box office performance of those Disney animated films.

Now, with the wedding of Prince William and the Princess-presumptive Kate Middleton, we can witness all these fantasies come true, for real.

North London Garden Designer | Garden Design Crouch End

Sun 27 Mar 2011

In this article about North London Garden Design, and Crouch End Garden Design, we will consider your city garden as an artwork and explore types of themes.

A garden can be your canvass for your artwork. Like a painting it makes use of a multitude of color, texture but with it comes other element such as texture, scents and in some cases, flavors. When it all comes down to it, a garden is all about beauty. Everything comes in second. A start of great garden is always a patch of land but before it can become a landscaping masterpiece it must have a set direction.

Classic Garden Design

Summer Afternoon your efforts pay off!

Garden design themes can help set a direction for your garden, making for a style that is coherent and unified. Here are just some of the more popular garden designs you can use on your garden.

Japanese Gardens This type of design is gaining more and more popularity as more people gain a fascination of Japanese culture. However this does not mean that the design is not timeless.

Japanese gardens have been hailed over the world because of its timeless simplicity. This design is characterized by the use of grass, stone and moss. The contrast between the hardness of stone and softness of grass create a complimentary effect that highlights each element.

In some cases, a central focal point is emphasized, usually a bonsai tree or a Japanese Zen garden in the middle of the main garden.

Formal European Gardens This form of garden is known for its structure like the Japanese Garden but unlike the Japanese Garden it does not aim to recreate nature in your space. Instead, the European garden uses nature to create symmetrical and linear formations.

Most often, one may find mazes and pathways created from woody hedges. Cottage Gardens Cottage Gardens is another popular type of Garden where it provides contrasts to the formal European garden. Instead of defined lines, cottage gardens made use of loosely designed beds of colorful perennials. It is also far more practical where the plantings are based on the preference of the plants itself. Rock Gardens Not all gardens need to be filled with plants. In regions where there is a shortage of water it is both expensive and difficult to grow plants and keep them alive.

If properly positioned, the rocks can be an adequate design piece because of the many colors and texture that it provides.

Tropical Gardens Tropical Gardens are characterized by the use of tropical plants and aim to recreate the natural scenery that you would normally find in countries like Bali, Jamaica or other tropical countries.

Often you can find sculptures native to island nations to add character to the design.

A friend of Miss Frith Powell confides: ‘Johnny is based on the chef Marco Pierre White, whom she knew when they were teenagers.

There was no impropriety.’ Be that as it may, I notice the launch party is at Marco Pierre White’s on March 10.

Hot politics: Luciana Berger has been voted Parliament's sexiest MP

Labour’s fragrant MP Luciana Berger, 29, pictured, who has been voted Parliament’s sexiest MP (ousting long-time Commons vamp Caroline Flint, now looking rather glum) picks her consorts with care.

She stepped out with Euan Blair before dating the then-up-and- coming minister Sion Simon. Now the hon member for Liverpool Wavertree has taken up with Streatham’s Labour MP Chuka Umunna, Ed Miliband’s parliamentary private secretary, also pictured.

He is hailed, implausibly, as the party’s answer to Barack Obama as well as the sexiest MP in Parliament.

All these things are relative, of course. Prior to the Berger-Umunna hook-up, Ed Balls and his wife, Yvette Copper, were considered Labour’s glamour couple.

The Telegraph’s jailed ex-boss Conrad Black, 66 – currently out on bail – published in Canada’s National Post an open Valentine to his wife of 19 years, the well-preserved writer Barbara Amiel, 70, saying: ‘There have been no serious strains between us in all that time and I feel the same or even greater romantic magnetism now as in that whirlwind courtship of such pleasant memory….’

Bit of a babe, hey C? :)

Crouch End | Facebook

Crouch End is an area of north London, in the London Borough of Haringey.

Location

Crouch End is in a valley between Harringay to the east, Hornsey, Muswell Hill and Wood Green to the north, Finsbury Park and Archway to the south and Highgate to the west.

The locale

Crouch End has a busy town centre and is surrounded by a number of green spaces. To the immediate west, it is bounded by Highgate Wood, and the adjacent Queen's Wood, as well as a large expanse of playing fields. To the north is Alexandra Park and to the south Finsbury Park. 'The Parkland Walk', a former railway line, connects these two parks. Other parks in the area include Stationers' Park and Priory Park.

History

Crouch End grew up as a hamlet on the old medieval route from London to the north. At this time it was governed as part of Hornsey which became a parish in around 1300. This heavily-wooded area contained farms and villas, one of which was Crouch Hall, probably built in 1681 at the crossroads of what came to be known as Crouch End.

Plan for former department store ‘will bring in visitors’

By Ruth Warrander and David Ewen

Published: 25/03/2011

JAMIE Oliver’s planned new Aberdeen restaurant will be a boon for the Granite City, it was claimed today.

As revealed in the Evening Express, the superstar chef plans to move an Italian restaurant into the former Esslemont and Macintosh store on Aberdeen’s Union Street.

And today the plans were hailed by Jill Bunt, the Mayor of Newquay, where Jamie Oliver opened his restaurant, Fifteen, in 2006.

Introducing The Royal Collection

royal wedding royal collection

The Royal Collection is as close we get to an 'official' Collection.  What makes the Royal Collection of Commemorative China so special is that it is commissioned by the

Royal Collection itself; this is the charitable trust which looks after tens of thousands of drawings, paintings, furniture, watercoliurs china, crystal, clocks, silver, jewellery, sculpture, books, prints, manuscripts, maps, arms and armour, textiles and fans, which are kept in the Royal Palaces.  Every item that  is produced for The Royal Collection can only be done so with the say-so of the Royal Household.

The Royal Wedding Commemorative collection being produced for this year's Royal Wedding is modern in style and consists of white ribbons, doves and hearts in silver, grey and gold.  There are also two silver doves bearing a gold wedding ring.  The centre of each piece features an emblem in silver and gold of the initials of Catherine and William, above which sits the coronet of Prince William of Wales.
This Royal Wedding Commemorative collection is made in Stoke-On-Trent, home of the English potteries.  it is manufactured entirley by hand from fine whte bone china.Every piece carries the Made In England backstamp.
Each piece is wrapped in white tissue, featuring designs inspired by the wall hangings of Clarence House.  And naturally, every piece from the Royal Collection is gift boxed and comes with a descriptive leaflet.

The World's Most Famous Moustache Mug - a True Media Star! by Stephen Church MD of The UK Gift Company

royal wedding gifts

Let me introuduce you to my friend on the right.  Meet my Moustache Mug.  Not the most common of household articles, but back in 1901, this was an essential fashion item for those Victorian gents with their big bushy moustaches, enabling them to sup their afternoon cuppa without getting their moustaches soggy!  But this moustache mug is no ordinary moustache mug.  Far from it.  This mug was manufactured by Belleek China in Northern Ireland to commemorate the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.

"n recent weeks, this mug has become something of a celebrity, having made appearances on BBC Breakfast, on Bill and Sian's famous sofa.  It has been viewed and admired on the BBC News 24 TV Channel, as well as receiving coverage on regional channels throughout the UK.  I even had an executive from America's CBS Television begging me to sell it to her!

This beautiful piece is certainly the oldest Royal item we have in our archives and we're delighted to show it off as we tell the world about our growing collection of Royal Wedding gifts.
The question - what piece from this Royal Wedding will be the media star in a hundred years time.

Royal Wedding Fever

It seems an age ago that the wonderful news broke of Prince William of Wales' engagement to Kate Middleton. With the wedding date now set for late April, the excitement is already building. Our Managing Director was the first to be quoted on Sky News, saying "It's just what the country needs" In the last few years, with the new generation reaching adulthood, the popularity of the Royals has begun to grow once again. "This will give us all something to look forward to, particularly as economic times are so tough - there will be street parties, bunting, a public holiday ..." .  We've also been fortunate enough to be featured on the BBC News Website on the Sky News Site and many others.

So it's all systems go and we're expecting news every week of the new Royal Wedding launches as they 'roll off the presses'.

Mind you, on this evenings show, the chefs made venison patties with added pork fat and juniper berries, ground with white pepper and salt. Thick patties, that were chock full of fat. The tv chefs cooking is not always the healthiest in the world. Often they say two tablespoons and throw a lot more of whatever it is on the dish.
