Many thousands at strike rallies
Tens of thousands attend rallies around the UK as a public sector strike over pensions disrupts schools, hospitals and other services. 3331
We watched the strikers today, very interesting. There were many places in the city of London that seem to have been affected. Strikers with Banners, outside various buildings. There was a group that seemed to have taken over a building, had big signs hanging outside, about fifteen policemen and women were gathered immediately outside, with vans parked nearby and many small patrol groups keeping a watchful eye. Somehow, the feeling that there might be some kind action never really surfaced. It seems like that day might give a lot of good photo opportunities to the news photographers. How much has been really achieved, and if the leaders of the striking workers will gain what they wish is actually hard to tell. I guess in a way, it is the only action they can take. I always have the feeling that the energy of the day will subside, and people will go back to work tomorrow and the next day. Time will tell.
