Prince Philip has been made Lord High Admiral of the British Navy in a formal manner by Her Majesty the Queen to celebrate his ninetieth birthday, although this actually was conferred earlier this year, he has just now received the actual documentation making it official.
One of the privileges of Royalty is that you can give titles.
Some people can have a star named after them, some people get streets named in their honour, but if you are the Queen of England, you can not only give a title, but you can also bestow a job to go with the positition.
