BBC News - Oscars 2011: The King's Speech seeks crown

They had a very good documentary on the Kings Speech last night on BBC I think, the programme had the original recordings of King George speaking to large crowds, pausing, recomposing himself and continuing to read the words at an intentionally slow and controlled pace.
I tell you, we need to give the man credit, more of a man than many might think, his father treated him very poorly, his brother bullied him and was always hovering as a threat while he was king.

He stood the test and remained as a symbol for the country throughout the second world war. I believe he passed away in 1953, which was the year Elizabeth came to the throne, and also the year Edmund Hilary climbed Mount Everest.
