BBC News - Picasso painting fetches record $106m at auction

A Pablo Picasso painting has set a new record for the most expensive art work sold at auction, fetching $106m (£70m).

The Spanish artist's 1932 picture Nude, Green Leaves and Bust was sold at Christie's auction house in New York.

The painting is surprisingly large, but one can definitely see that the forms are feminine, and respective of the human form.
Perhaps one might even develop the thought that there is a connection between these types of distortion, combined with an inherent sensuality, that inspired Francis Bacon.

Bacon visited a Picasso show in Paris in his youth, and that was one of the moments when for him, the lightbulbs went on, and he found his inspiration as a painter.
